Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have made contact with the defender, who's set to become a free agent. The team understands there's a chance he moves on with the price tag already high with the potential to rise even further:
Meanwhile, the Dolphins have informed defensive tackle Jared Odrick that they plan to make an offer to keep him. But the Dolphins have confided in people that he might command more than what they're willing to pay and acknowledge there's certainly a possibility they might lose him. He could land a deal worth $7 million-plus per season.
Odrick was drafted by Miami in the first round of the 2010 draft. He played just one game as a rookie due to injury, but has played all 16 games in each of the past four years. In 65 games, he's racked up 29 total tackles and 16.5 sacks.
Versatile defensive tackles are increasingly in demand. That's especially true for those like the Penn State product, who can get after the quarterback from the interior. So the Dolphins are likely to have plenty of competition for his services.
Trying to get him back should be one of the team's main priorities this offseason.
