The Atlanta Falcons have a lot of roster holes to fill this offseason, but they've secured one of their primary assets in kicker Matt Bryant with a contract extension.

News of the fresh deal for Bryant was revealed Wednesday through the Falcons' official Twitter account and website:

Details of the contract weren't specified upon the initial release, but the 39-year-old Bryant will be booting for the Falcons for the foreseeable future.

Chris Dimino of 680 The Fan in Atlanta weighed in on the situation:

Bryant's last biggest kick came in the 2012-13 postseason, when the Falcons defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round to advance to the conference title game. Atlanta then fell yards short of a Super Bowl trip and have struggled in the two seasons since.

A new coaching staff headlined by former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn ought to breathe new life into the Falcons franchise. Provided Quinn can guide Atlanta to marked improvement in 2015, Bryant can be counted on to drill clutch kicks when the score is close.

Considering Bryant has drilled 53 of 59 field-goal attempts over the past two years, his extension is well deserved. Now it's up to the rest of the Falcons to make more of his forthcoming kicks meaningful.
