It was a tough night for Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook on Friday. Not only did his team lose, 115-112, to the Portland Trail Blazers, but the 26-year-old was left with a dent in his face after teammate Andre Roberson accidentally kneed him.
Westbrook wasn’t available to the media after the game, but Thunder coach Scott Brooks confirmed to ESPN that his injury was being further evaluated.
It’s unclear how serious the injury to Westbrook’s face is, but ESPN’s Royce Young has some theories, one of which would require surgery.
Also of concern would be any repercussions from a possible concussion. After Westbrook’s face found Roberson’s knee, No. 0 remained facedown on the floor for several seconds.
This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
