Early Thursday morning, SMU Coach Chad Morris made a very big, bold, star-spangled announcement on Twitter.
SMU has a new alternate helmet, one that features a stars-and-striped mustang, Morris tweeted along with the words “straight up Nasty!” It’s a bold look, but at this point a chance of wardrobe can’t possibly hurt the Mustangs, who were 1-11 last season. Sometimes, a fresh new look can be a real pick-me-up.
The red-white-and-blue horse decal stands out on the blue helmet, which features a sweet chrome facemask. Morris didn’t reveal when the team would sport the headgear, but Labor Day and Veterans Day would seem to be two logical possibilities.
