The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly reached an agreement with offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert on a restructured contract to create nearly $4 million in additional cap space.

Field Yates of ESPN passed along word of the new deal:

He also provided further details about how they reshuffled the contract:

This is the point of the year where teams around the NFL are working with their own players to come up with contract solutions that work out for both sides. Front offices want as much wiggle room as possible under the salary cap before free agency and the draft.

Gilbert fills the right tackle role for Pittsburgh. He's started 46 games since being drafted in the second round of the 2011 draft.

He played a key role for an offensive line that rated sixth in run blocking and 14th in pass protection this past season, according to Football Outsiders.

Gilbert signed a five-year extension with the Steelers last offseason. That long-term pact remains in place, just with some alterations for 2015 to help out the team's cap situation.
