Although he still anticipates making a return to the NFL in 2015, Adrian Peterson remains unsure whether that return will be with the Minnesota Vikings.

Peterson spoke with ESPN about his relationship with the Vikings and how it might impact where he will play next season, per Ben Goessling of ESPN.com:

Peterson told ESPN on Thursday night he is "still uneasy" about the prospect of returning to the Vikings in 2015, saying the organization working with the NFL to put him on the commissioner's exempt list last September made him question how much support he had from the team for whom he has played his entire career. The 2012 NFL MVP called that decision an "ambush," adding, "There were people (in the organization) that I trusted, who knew exactly what was said, that weren't heard from" in the decision-making process.

"They weren't able to do anything about it," Peterson said.

Peterson and the NFL Players Association took a case to federal court, the result of which could see him reinstated. Should that fall through, the earliest he could return to the NFL would be April 15.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman indicated at the NFL Scouting Combine that the team doesn't plan on letting Peterson go any time soon.

"Adrian's been a key part of our organization," Spielman said, per Tom Pelissero of USA Today. "He's made a mistake. He's doing everything and he's got to follow through, rectify and do the things that the NFL's requiring him to do. Yeah, we expect Adrian Peterson to be a part of our football team."

The 29-year-old has rushed for 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns in his eight years in Minnesota. He's far and away the franchise leader in both categories.

According to Spotrac , Peterson is due to make a base salary of $12,750,000 in 2015, which will rise by $2 million in each of the following two years.
