Winston’s off-field issues are well documented: He was accused of but never charged with sexual assault while at Florida State (his accuser has sued the school, alleging that it violated her Title IX rights by not properly investigating the incident). He shoplifted crab legs from a grocery store, a violation worthy of a civil citation. He shouted an obscene phrase in a school cafeteria, leading to a two-quarter suspension during a game last season.
But Winston also led the Seminoles to a 26-1 record and the 2013 BCS championship. He won the 2013 Heisman Trophy. He’s seen as probably the most NFL-ready quarterback in the draft. How can the Bucs — who went 2-14 using a combination of Josh McCown and Mike Glennon at quarterback last season — pass that up?
They probably won’t.
