Chelsea has taken action after a number of its fans prevented a black man from entering a Paris Metro train on Tuesday while chanting “we’re racist, we’re racist and that’s the way we like it.” The English Premier League club has barred three of them from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s stadium, at least temporarily.
“If it is deemed there is sufficient evidence of their involvement in the incident, the club will issue banning orders for life,” the club wrote in a news statement issued on its Web site.
The incident happened as fans were making their way to a Champions League game between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea hosts Burnley in an English Premier League game on Saturday, a contest that it’s dubbing a “Game for Equity.” The club said in its statement that the investigation ito the incident is ongoing.
