Ex-Bears player Adrian Peterson loses young son to cancer

Former Chicago Bears player Adrian Peterson lost his young son A.J. to cancer on Tuesday morning. The running back, who played with the Bears from 2002 to 2009 made the announcement via Facebook. WJCL-TV has more details, including a screenshot of the post:


A.J. was diagnosed with an inoperable brainstem tumor known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) last June at the age of 6.


Peterson also had the support of thousands of his fans, both from his days with the Bears and at Georgia Southern University. Per WSAV-TV:


The news station, which covers the Georgia Southern community has announced it will air tributes to A.J. on its 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts on Tuesday.
