Red Sox fans freaking out over Pablo Sandoval’s weight, have apparently never seen a photo of Pablo Sandoval before

The Boston Red Sox made a notable hot-stove splash this offseason, signing third baseman Pablo Sandoval to a five-year, $100 million free agent deal after he spent his first seven seasons with the San Francisco Giants. Sandoval now has reported to spring training, and Red Sox Nation is freaking out, because apparently they thought Sandoval previously had the body of Willie McGee.

Here’s what he looked like last year.

Here’s another photo.

What, exactly, did everyone expect here? That Sandoval would go on some sort of juice cleanse? That he would shed his “Panda” nickname for a more svelte animal, like the puma? He’s just a big guy who signed a big contract and looks pretty much the same as he always has.

“The Panda immediately took part in some agility drills and showed he’s pretty good on his feet,” reports Boston.com. There. Go shovel snow, Boston.
