Eagles interested in Frank Gore when NFL free agency opens, report says

The Philadelphia Eagles may look to the West Coast in their search for a running back to replace LeSean McCoy, who was traded to Buffalo last week.

Frank Gore of the San Francisco 49ers is one of their targets with free agency opening at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com reports. The Eagles won’t be alone, though. For one, the 49ers hope to keep the 31-year-old running back, although they were content to let this get down to the free-agency wire.

The good news for Gore is that the market for running backs is belatedly picking up. The Buffalo Bills were willing to take on McCoy’s $10.25 million contract; Marshawn Lynch is returning to the Seattle Seahawks for $12 million; the Minnesota Vikings may be ready to keep Adrian Peterson at $12.75; and Mark Ingram got a four-year, $16-million deal from the New Orleans Saints.

Gore, who has been durable over the last four seasons as well as productive, has rushed for 1,000 or more yards nine times and hasn’t missed a game since 2010.
