Nick Foles ‘overjoyed he’s out of Philly’

The Philadelphia Eagles made a shocker of a big trade Tuesday evening, sending quarterback Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for Sam Bradford.

Eagles fans didn’t like it and it may well turn out to be the latest example of why teams shouldn’t let head coaches also serve as their general managers. But one person reportedly was thrilled with the move.

“I just talked to a member of Nick Foles’s family,” ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio told 97.5 ESPN The Fanatic. “He is absolutely pumped, overjoyed he’s out of Philly.”

The shot comes out of the blue, really, because Foles had never indicated that he wasn’t happy in Chip Kelly’s offense. But maybe his remark was directed more at a Philadelphia offense that no longer includes LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, Todd Herremans or, for that matter, DeSean Jackson, as well as at rumors that Kelly wanted to draft Marcus Mariota.

Bradford won’t have any job uncertainty in St. Louis. He’ll be the starter and, although he didn’t bear the weight of most of Eagles’ fans angst, he’ll find a far more laidback fanbase in Missouri.
