Eddie Royal has spent his entire career in the AFC West with the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers, but that will likely change in the 2015 season.

Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reported Tuesday that Royal traveled to Chicago to discuss “and potentially sign a contract with the Chicago Bears.”

Royal brings a lot to the table as a potential slot receiver and kick returner and tallied 778 receiving yards and seven touchdowns for the Chargers in 2014. What’s more, he finished with 980 receiving yards and five touchdown catches as a rookie on the Broncos with current Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, so this pairing could make some sense.

The Bears traded Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets, as the Jets announced Tuesday, and are looking for another receiver to pair with Alshon Jeffery in what could be an explosive offense. A combination of Jeffery, Royal, running back Matt Forte and tight end Martellus Bennett is dangerous on paper, especially since Cutler has experience throwing to Royal.

Royal’s 980 receiving yards in 2008 with Cutler as his quarterback still stands as a career high.
