Benches clear as Texas, Baylor brawl during Monday’s game

Texas and No. 14 Baylor went to overtime on Monday night. This happened:

When the smoke cleared, seven players were ejected: Texas’s Kendal Yancy, Cam Ridley, Prince Ibeh and Connor Lammert, and Baylor’s Johnathan Motley, Ishmail Wainright and John Heard. Both Longhorns Coach Rick Barnes and Bears Coach Scott Drew said afterward that they didn’t expect any of the players to face further discipline from the Big 12 or the NCAA.

Isaiah Taylor floated in a shot with 4.8 seconds remaining to give Texas the upset, snapping a four-game losing streak.

The win was crucial for Texas’s NCAA tournament hopes, though there’s still much work to be done for the 18-12 Longhorns (No. 39 in the RPI as of Tuesday morning). Texas, which was ranked No. 10 in the AP preseason poll and reached No. 6 in early December, is just 3-11 against the RPI top 50.
