According to Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate (and Adam Schefter of ESPN), the Saints are looking to restructure Colston’s deal. Underhill and Schefter also noted that releasing the veteran receiver is an unlikely outcome.
Colston failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards in either the 2013 or 2014 season after doing so in six of the first seven years of his career. However, he still topped 900 yards in both campaigns and was a critical component in the New Orleans passing attack that finished third in the league in yards per game in 2014.
Colston will be 32 years old during the 2015 season, although he likely still has a couple more productive seasons in the tank given his recent performance. The Saints certainly hope so if they bring him back.
