The high-scoring Cricket World Cup continued in a big way Wednesday as co-host Australia set a new event record with 417 runs against Afghanistan in Perth.

It also was the third 400-run match at this World Cup, with the other two posted by South Africa.

Australia, the four-time World Cup champion, surpassed India’s record of 413, set against Bermuda at the 2007 World Cup. The all-time record for a one-day international match remains 443 scored by Sri Lanka in 2006 against the Netherlands.

David Warner scored a career-best 178 off 133 balls for Australia.
