On Tuesday evening, as an eye-popping whopper of an NFL trade went down, the man pulling the strings just happened, in a surreal coincidence, to be making a public appearance.
Kelly was shipping McCoy to Buffalo in a trade that will become official on Tuesday for Kiko Alonso, a linebacker who was on his team at Oregon. What did Kelly do when he stepped to podium and saw an audience peppered with McCoy jerseys?
Nothing.
He stuck to the gameplan and delivered a 15-minute speech that “focused on happiness, perseverance, and being grateful,” Philly.com’s Zach Berman reported. He took no questions.
“It’s gotten me to the greatest sports city in the country,” Kelly said about his philosophies. “It’s really humbling to get to be the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s the best job in the world. I’m grateful for it every day.”
Afterward, he sprinted for the exit, responding only “How ya doing?” to one of the reporters.
Better than McCoy, that’s for sure.
